Dakota Joshua, Tyler Nanne, and Miguel Fidler, all future Ohio State hockey players were selected in the fifth round of the NHL draft on Saturday.
Joshua, who spent his last season playing for the
Sioux Falls Stampede of the USHL, was taken by the Toronto Maple
Leafs with pick number eight, 128th overall.
A forward from Dearborn, Mich.,
Joshua put up 17 goals and had 21 assists for the Stampede who went
34-19-7 and made the playoffs last season.
Nanne, a defenseman and captain of
the Edina High School Hornets that took home their 12th
Minnesota State title this spring, was taken by the New York Rangers
with the 22nd pick, 142nd overall.
Fidler, described as “a scrappy
player that mixes good skating and skill with an aggressive, physical
style of play,” (Chris Dilks - sbncollegehockey) was taken immediately after his
Edina High teammate by the Florida Panthers, 143rd
overall.
